Still makes me feel a little homesick

My mom and dad went to the coast this past weekend, just for the heck of it. On the way, they took these two pictures that I thought were quite lovely. I like it out here in DC, but part of me still feels homesick for the land of my lost youth.

oh my... as my fellow homeland, I share the pain, the loss of it all. I like the Shenandoah, but they call THOSE mountains? nah ah. sorry. Oh for the cascades! God, let me see them again! what quiet power. breath-taking!

Where's that second pic taken from?
Israel -- where are you from?

I refuse to start the "Those aren't mountains. Yes they are, they have lots of cool plant life. No they're not, they're not tall enough," argument again.

And the second picture is taken from a hill in Moclips I think, looking out over the Pacific Ocean as the sun sets.

Beautiful pictures Schuyler ... of beautiful mountains! Coming from the "both/and" school of thought ... they're all mountains. East coast mountains are much older and were created during a distinctly different geological period, thus are very different from, west coast mountains. So, we can all appreciate both for different reasons. They're all beautiful, if we're not elitist about it. I think that those who live in or have visited the Himalayas or the Andes might think the whole debate silly anyway.

Do you like the way I'm avoiding LightGirl's Halloween costume today? By making lengthy, pretentious comments on other people's blogs I can simultaneously avoid the library and her Halloween costume from h@ll. But ... her wand came today, so I suppose I cannot avoid it forever.:-(
